Print a flyer

A school board race is won by neighbors talking to neighbors. If you can put a page on a bulletin board, hand one to a parent you know, or leave a few at your church or barbershop, that reaches people no advertisement will.

These are ready to print on any home or office printer. The dates and the QR code are correct, and every sheet already carries the campaign’s funding disclaimer. Please use these rather than making your own, so that every page going around the district says the same thing.

Three things to know before you hand these out

Never within 500 feet of a polling place

South Carolina law (§ 7-25-180) makes it unlawful to hand out campaign literature or place political posters within five hundred feet of any entrance voters use, while voting is going on. That applies during early voting too, not only on Election Day. Early voting runs for two weeks. The simple version: if people are voting there, stay well away.

If you pay for a big print run yourself

The funding disclaimer at the bottom of these sheets is the campaign’s. South Carolina’s disclaimer law (§ 8-13-1354) applies to “a candidate, committee, or other person which makes an expenditure” and asks for that person’s name and address on the printed matter. We are not lawyers and cannot tell you how that lands for a run you pay for yourself. Printing a few pages for your own street is ordinary volunteering; if you are thinking about a real print bill, ask the S.C. State Ethics Commission first, and get their answer in writing.

Not in mailboxes, and not on school property

A mailbox is for stamped mail. Federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1725) penalizes knowingly and willfully putting unstamped material into one to avoid paying postage. The person who put it there is the one who answers for it, not the campaign. Hand it to the person, or leave it in the door.

And please keep these off school campuses. Richland Two’s own Board Policy KHE (“Political Solicitations in Schools”) prohibits posting or distributing campaign materials on district property (the grounds and lots, not just the building). Only two things are exempt: space rented for a campaign meeting or used for an all-candidate forum, cleared out afterward, and classroom material a principal approves that does not ask for support. So the whole campus is off limits, including the pickup line and the parking lot. If your situation is genuinely different, get it from the district in writing first, and do not assume it.

1. Choose a size

In the print dialog choose Letter paper. The default margins are fine, so you don’t need to change them. Leave scale at 100% and avoid “Fit to page”, which shrinks the QR code.

2. Preview

This is the sheet that will print. Colors may look slightly different on paper, and the flyer is designed so that it still reads correctly even if your printer skips background colors entirely.
